The Marilyn Center is dedicated to and in honor of a woman who died at a young age of 44 from addiction to the rapacious, insatiable, and insidious drug known as alcohol. Because they did not instill hope that there was help for her to stop drinking and live. She is a lost loved one · Who have you lost? Because of her, we will be here for anyone who wants to come for help. The Marilyn Center is an expansion product of the private practice, which has been providing Anger Management Services, Therapy, Professional Training, and other social services in East Orange since 2001. The private practice also provides services for free and at a sliding fee rate to individuals who do not have insurance. Marilyn Center was born out of a need to focus the services on the issues of drug and alcohol misuse, abuse, and eventual dependence.
The Marilyn Center will provide specialized treatment for individuals suffer ing from the disease of addiction regardless of their ability to pay for services. We believe that when people know better, they can do better, and our way of helping is by instilling HOPE in the process. With the experience of more than 100 years combined among the professionals at the Marilyn Center, the one thing that we all agree on is that having hope is crucial to success. Our methods of HELP include the standardized services provided by other programs, like individual counseling and education on the illness, followed by education on the recovery process. However, we maximize the services at the Marilyn Center with an adult learning method of “credit application” to measure your learning of the information that is contained in the curriculum. We have found that experiencing fun and laughter together with tangible forms of learning cements HEALING.
